Types of Dyes
How many types of dyes are there?
If we talk about hair products, we know that there is a huge range from products that help us keep our hair straight or curly for longer, creams, treatments and a long etcetera, but today we are going to focus on dyes, we know that To modify the natural tone of our hair we have to do it through a chemical process that always has dye as its protagonist. There are also many shades and we can play with different styles throughout our lives.
But did you know that there are three types of dyes?
The dyes, semi-permanent, demi-permanent and permanent, each one has a different characteristic and are used in very particular cases. Here we will tell you a little more about each one, its characteristics.
- Semi-permanent: Semi-permanent dyes, also commonly called fantasy dyes, are dyes that do not last long on the hair, as in the case of our AQarellas in mousse, which have a lifespan of up to 15 washes and this is because they do not contain hydrogen peroxide. or some other oxidant, that is why the color is only deposited on the hair cuticle and washes off faster.
- Permanent : Permanent dyes necessarily require an oxidant so that the color penetrates the cuticle to the cortex and the color adheres to the hair. Unlike semi-permanent dye, it lasts on the hair for 6 to 8 weeks, which is approximately how long it takes. in growing your hair, revealing the dreaded roots, in the case of permanents you can rely on products that help the color not to oxidize or lose its intensity so quickly, such as the Cólora post dye line that helps maintain and your tone for longer and your hair healthy Tip Extra: this dye is ideal if what you want is to cover gray hair.
- Demipermanent: Demi-permanent dyes can only be mixed with peroxides below 10 volumes, they are used to soften tones or give a more natural result, their duration is approximately 20 to 30 washes, this is because the color pigments are only deposited almost in the surface of the hair without altering its structure.
As you can see, one of the main differences is the duration of the tone and its oxidant. In the case of all 3, we recommend maintaining your color with a post-dye line, spacing out washes and always going to a professional if what you are looking for is a perfect result.
Remember that your hair also needs maintenance and especially if you decide to dye it frequently, always look for products that give you extra hydration.
